Mepal Parish Council is a statutory consultee for all planning applications within the parish boundary. Copies of all applications are received from Cambridgeshire County Council and East Cambridgeshire District Council.

A parish council working party considers each application before proposing a response which must be approved by the Council at a properly convened meeting.
